Margot Robbie
Not You Typical Blonde Bombshell
She's the ever likable actress from the land down under but what is it that really makes her tick? We'll be taking a look at Margot's career both in front of the camera and behind it. We'll explore her family life and look at what makes her anything but your typical blonde bombshell.
Early Life
Margot Robbie was born July 2nd 1990 in Dalby, Australia. Her childhood home was found in the hinterland of Queensland in an area known for its grain and cotton growing. Margo tells stories of snakes in her childhood home as well as other dangerous wildlife but she does state herself that she should probably stop perpetuating the stereotype that Australia is a dangerous country to live in as it is really not that bad. Margot grew up with single mother Sarrie Kessler and brothers Lachlan and Cameron and sister Anya. Although she describes herself as being a brat as a child she did develop a close relationship with her mother whom she describes as the sweetest person on Earth. Once she was financially stable she paid off her mother's mortgage; a goal she'd had in mind for a long time. Margot does not speak much of her father Doug Robbie who she has a strained relationship with. When asked what qualities she shares with her father in an interview with Harper's Bazaar she answers simply "None. Nothing. I'm not like him at all." Both of Margo's brothers are also in the entertainment industry. Her brother Lachlan Works predominantly as a stuntman, while her brother Cameron is also an actor.
Early Career
When Margot was just 17 she was approached to star in a low-budget amateur horror film. Although the film never played in cinemas it was the experience that made Margot decide to pursue acting as a career. She moved to Melbourne where she was cast as Donna on long-running soap opera Neighbours. Initially written as a guest role her character was so likable that she was soon a permanent fixture on the show. She credits Neighbours with the developing her strong work ethic. She says "It moves quickly and you learn that if you're not going to show up and do a good job someone else will take it". As much as she loved her time on the show her sights had always been set on Hollywood and as her mother said "Margot sets goals and she achieves them" so after just three years on Neighbours, Margot left for Hollywood.
Hollywood Success
It didn't take long for Margot to make her mark on Tinseltown. She was cast in short-lived ABC Drama Pan Am as well as a small role in the film About Time before landing the role that would make her a household name. It was Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese themselves that told Margot in person she had won the role of Naomi in The Wolf of Wall Street. No one was more surprised than Margot herself who was sure she had blown the audition when she slapped DiCaprio during an ad-libbed scene. It was that slap that ultimately won her the part. From there Margot's star status continued to rise with roles in Focus alongside Will Smith, The Legend of Tarzan, Suicide Squad and I Tonya, along with a string of other box office hits. Margot Robbie had cemented her status as a Hollywood star.

Personal Life
Margot's personal life was also going from strength to strength in 2016 Margot married her long-term partner Tom Ackerley. The pair met on the set of Suite Francaise and quickly became friends. They then became housemates with five other friends from the film but their friendship turned into a secret fling which ultimately turned into a serious romance. Margot says her feelings for Tom crept up on her and she didn't believe he would reciprocate her feelings, however once they were together she felt like "it made so much sense in the way nothing has made sense before". The pair are relatively secret about their relationship even keeping their engagement and wedding a secret. They do not yet have any children together and in an interview with Vogue, Margot expressed her frustration that she is continually questioned on the topic. "I'm so angry that there's this social contract you're married now have a baby don't presume I'll do what I'm going to do."
Did you know...?
1. Margot founded production company Lucky chap entertainment in 2014 with husband Tom Ackerley, childhood friend Sophia Kerr and British director Josie McNamara. The company looks for films with strong female leads and has won a string of awards for the films it has already produced. Films I Tonya, Birds of Prey and Promising Young Female as well as television series Maid have all been produced by the company.
2. Margot is actually a big champion for females in film. She was so impressed with female lead Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman that she felt compelled to write to the actress and say 'You've made me feel so proud to be a woman in the DC Universe. Thank you."
3. The genetically blessed actress actually has some Hollywood lookalikes. She is often compared to actresses Jamie Presley and Emma McKay. Interestingly McKay has been listed in the cast for Margot's upcoming film Barbie. We can't wait to see the two share a screen together. The Barbie film is also being produced by Lucky chap entertainment and is set for release in 2023. Paparazzi shots of Margot and co-star Ryan Gosling dressed in full fluoro costume set the media world into a frenzy but for the two actors themselves it was a moment of humiliation. Embarrassment aside, the pictures have everyone curious to see how the final film plays out.
At just 32 years of age Margot has certainly accomplished a lot. We can't wait to see what Margot does next and we are sure her future in the entertainment industry will continue to be a long and successful one.
